The University and the Institute of Financial Studies: The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), located in the beautiful city of Chengdu, is a 985 Project university. The Institute of Financial Studies is a new research institute dedicated to raising the level of financial research at SWUFE, under the leadership of Director Philip H. Dybvig and Vice Director, Jun Liu. The IFS has already conducted three successful summer research programs and is now seeking to hire full-time faculty.
A compensation package includes a salary ranging from RMB 250,000 to 1,000,000, a start-up research grant, housing allowance, publication bonus, and other fringe benefits. Favorable tax treatment may make a visiting appointment attractive to western scholars seeking a change of venue in an institution highly supportive of research.
