There should be diversity in approaches to news provision. Some commercial organisations can charge fees if they wish. Public media organisations generally should not charge fees for news. Even within one commercial organisation, it may charge fees for some and provide some news for free.
If people don't like being charged fees, they don't have to read them from those agencies that charge fees. They can look at those provided free of charges. That is a matter of choice.
It is not right for other people to interfere with commercial decisions of firms.
