GAUSS doesn't 'care' what extension you use for programs as long as youspecify the full file name; people use all kinds of things as a result.Typically, we use the following extensions:
.e - example programs .gss - GAUSS programs .gda - GAUSS data archives (required extension) .dat - data files (required extension) .fmt - matrix files (required extension) .fst - string files (required extension) .src - source files.dec - definitions for globals .ext - external declarations for globals .lcg - library files.tkf - graphics files created with GAUSS. Many people use .gau, .prg, and .g for GAUSS programs, too.
There is noreal standardization on file extensions other than the ones noted aboveas required extensions.
I've even seen people use .txt as an extensionfor GAUSS programs, so it truly is a matter of what someone decides to use.
