Let’s look at an interesting example.
Li Hongzhang had been invited to dinner by Bismarck. Because of didn‘t understand western etiquette , he drunk a bowl of water for washing hands.Bismarck also didn’t understand the etiquette of China, in order not to embarrass Li Hongzhang , he also drunk his bowl of water.Seeing this scene other civil officials can only endure company with smile.
