Optimal tariff and optimal export tax estimation techniques are described for a set of related products. The techniques are applied to a model of Canadian / Japanese trade of rapeseed products. Welfare analysis indicates negligible Japanese gains from imposing optimal tariffs but large Canadian gains from imposing optimal export taxes.
