这里的 stock，有几个常见的意思，比如说“库存”， in stock, out of stock. 或者是“股票”，stocks and shares. 在这里，laughing stock 可不是“大笑的股票”。它是一个固定搭配的习语，It means a person who is laughed at or mocked by everyone, 被所有人嘲笑的对象，也就是指“笑柄，笑料”。
