Plead not guilty 意思就是“不认罪”，plead 是动词，意思是“在法庭申辩，认罪”。比如，法官问你有什么要辩护的，就是 How do you plead? 明星如果犯罪了，都会找最好的辩护律师来陈述案情，这里也会用 plead，They would hire a top lawyer to plead their case.
guilty 除了表示感情上的“内疚的”，在这里表示“犯了罪的，有罪的”，比如说有罪的一方当事人，就是 the guilty party. 法庭上的指控，用的是 charges，所以，“对指控不认罪”的词组就是：plead not guilty to all of the charges. “认罪”就是 plead guilty.
