A wage equation is estimatedfor a sample of public sector workers in Pakistan using data drawn from thatcountry’s 2001 Labour Force Survey.
Theexplanatory variables are: Urban (a dummy variable adopting a value of 1 if theindividual resides in an urban area, and 0 otherwise); the variables Primary,Secondary and University are a set of mutually exclusive dummy variablescapturing an individual’s highest educational level with less than primaryproviding the base category in estimation; Male is a dummy that adopts a valueof 1 if the individual is male and 0 otherwise; and Age is the age in years ofthe individual with Age Squared its quadratic.
The dependent variable is the log of the hourly wage.
