The Master of Chinese Economy (MACE) Program’s goal is to provide overseas students with two years of analytical training focused on economic development in China, to provide students with a platform to develop the critical thinking skills and knowledge necessary to become exports at analyzing China’s economy and policies. After graduation, graduate will be able to work in China in various areas such as multinational corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, or academic organizations.


All Courses offered in this program are taught in English by qualified faculty approved by the graduate college at RUC. Faculty members have a diverse background and most of them have been trained at some of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world and have impressive lists of publications and academic achievements.

Each student in the program conducts research in his/her area of particular interest under the guidance of a RUC faculty member..


Program of Study (30 credits, minimum)

A total of 30 graduate credit hours are required to complete the program, including a thesis. The program is comprised of 20 hours of required courses, 8 hours of elective courses, and 2 hours of field trip studies. The requirements are as follows:

5) Contemporary Chinese Economy (3 Credits)

Theories of International Trade and their Applications to the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
Theories of Economic Development and their Applications to the Chinese
Economy (2 Credits)
Regional Economics and its Application to the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
Resource and Environmental Economics and its Applications to the Chinese
Economy (2 Credits)
Healthcare Economics and Chinese Healthcare Sector (2 Credits)
Industrial Organization Theory and its Applications to the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
Public Finance and the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
Risk Management of Chinese Financial Institutions (2 Credits)
Labor Economics and its Applications to the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
Law and Economics and its Applications to the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
Agricultural Economics and its Applications to the Chinese Economy (2 Credits)
International Finance (2 Credits)
Corporate Finance (2 Credits)


Master’s Thesis

Students are required to complete a thesis as one of the exit requirements. Each thesis will be supervised and approved by a committee of three members of the graduate faculty. The student’s responsibility for fulfilling this degree requirement does not end until the thesis has been formally accepted by the Graduate School.
