前言
It’s still all about politics, but…
1. Political events in the US and euro area keep dominating price action across asset
markets, with fundamental economic developments remaining backstage.
2. The discussions on the US debt ceiling are not likely to lead to an imminent
solution, while S&P suggested that a downgrade of the US could occur soon.
3. Thursday’s EU summit announced steps in the right direction to address
concerns about the euro area debt crisis in the short run but not medium run.
4. Incoming activity data from China and the Euro area suggest an ongoing
deceleration in growth, while economic data in the US and Japan held up better.
