前几天宏观经济学课上讲到衡量各国生活水平时想到一个问题：

书本上说：The variable we want to focus on and compare either over time or across countries is output per person rather than output itself. The reason is the lower a country's output per capita, the lower the prices of food and basic services in that country. 并且书本中给出结论：各国的生活水平（或者说幸福指数）与各国人均GDP有一定程度上的正相关性。

请问各位牛牛为什么人均GDP可以衡量生活水平问题呢？打个比方，美国的人均GDP高于新加坡人均GDP，但是新加坡物价相对于美国更为便宜，所以一个新加坡公民的收入能够购买到的物品和服务不一定少于一个美国公民的收入能购买到的物品和服务。因此为何能说美国人的幸福指数高于新加坡人呢？
