I would like inform you of the following.there is a debate between historian and mainstream economist about imbalance in economic development in 2012 Columbia-Tsinghua Conference in International Economics. Some  issue such as "  Would Financial Crisis Break Out in the Coming Few Month in China?" and "has the heyday of positivism passed?"  will be discussed. Conference is open and free. It is the right time history should return to the stage of economic.

Imbalances in Economic Development: International Perspectives

Journal of Development Economics special issue


A subset of the presented papers will be considered for a special issue of the Journal of Development Economics, with the same high standard as regular submissions to the journal, though an effort will be made to expedite the review process.



Possible Topics:


The theme of “imbalances in economic development” can be interpreted broadly. Possible topics include but are not limited to: global trade and current account imbalances, structural imbalances and transformation, income and wealth inequalities,imbalances between the financial and the real side of the economy, imbalances between developed and developing countries, financial crises and international transmissions, overvalued or undervalued real exchange rates, new and old international currencies, regional and global financial governance, or imbalances in the development of regional and global free trade agreements.

Submissions to the conference and to the JDE


Researchers interested in presenting a paper at the conference should submit it by August 15, 2012, to:https://editorialexpress.com/conference/TWIE2012. Successful authors will be notified by August 30, 2012. The conference’s webpage is: http://www.center-ier.org/, which is updated periodically as more information becomes available. If you have any question, please contact the organizers by sending an email to Meixin Guo atguomx@sem.tsinghua.edu.cn or Yiying Wang at cier@sem.tsinghua.edu.cn



If you are interested in having your paper considered by the JDE special issue, please also submit it to the JDE website by October 15, 2012. When you see a list of “submission types,” please select “Special issue – ‘Imbalances in economic development: International perspective.’”



The review process for the JDE special issue and the selection process for the conference program are mutually independent. Papers that fit the theme of the special issue but not presented at the Beijing conference can also be submitted to the special issue (and enjoy the same expedited review process).
