Is a complex enough if everyone try to explain how to use ridge regression in a forum post. In fact you need the following files:
1. ridge regression.sps --> you can find in the same folder were you install SPSS (usually under samples directory)
2. you need to write your own syntax file. It's quite easy, that is a text file with these lines
INCLUDE 'Ridge regression.sps'.
RIDGEREG DEP="Your depenedent variable" (e.g gpa) /ENTER = "Your independent variables" (e.g greq to ar)
/START=0 /STOP=1 /INC=0.05.
give the above file a name. (e.g ridge1)
3. The spss file (.sav) with your data
All of these in the same folder. Preferably in the folder where is the Ridge regression.sps
Open in syntax your file (ridge1.sps) and run.

hope it helps
