it's supposed to incorporate SAS program files, dataset, or macros. And it's an advanced technique.

I guess your purpose is to link a reference name to a file . use the following:

filename myfile "D:\data\fdata\fl.txt";

try to remove the .txt to see if it works.

or try to put a sas file in this directory.

maybe %include works for sas file only.
