It is true that more and more electronic teaching materials are available online. However, we should not miss a few important points:

1) Not all materials are available online since the copyright of the materials belongs to the instructor who prepares them. This means course instructor could keep what they want to with themselves.

2) The interaction between students and instructors is important, either in a formal setting or a casual situation.

3) The interaction among students is also extremely important. Sometimes you might say you could learn extra knowledge from your peers.

4) The formal study setting is more efficient and incentive than the independent study in general.

Online lecturing is becoming more acceptable, which is true, but the online course is not equivalent to just reading some electronic materials that are abundant online.

can not agree more with 2) & 3).
even cisco making everything live can not replace the goody of discussing/meeting someone.
