先来介绍课程
UW-Madison精算的课程非常齐全，除了正常的lecture外，P,FM, MFE还有专门的一学分备考课程，一般上完课之后就可以直接考试了，MLC也有discussion。一下是每个精算考试相对应的课程
MATH431 or STAT or STAT 311 and Act Sci 300(一学分习题课）——Course P/1
Act Sci 303 and Act Sci 301 (一学分习题课） ——FM/2
Act Sci650 and Act Sci 651 (两学期上完）—— MLC
Act Sci 652 and Act Sci 653 （两学期上完）—— C
Act Sci 365 (一学分习题课） and FIN 330 —— MFE
所以说，如果大一第一学期学习完微积分，第二学期开始学精算课，到毕业的时候就可以修完所有的课程了。不过有一些课程并不是必修，楼主会在接下来的帖子说
关于VEE，UWmadison也有很多课程可以帮助通过VEE认证，详细资料可以到soa官网的vee dictionary找

Actuarial Club（UW-Madison精算社团）
作为uw-madison商学院中最大的社团之一，actuarial club为不论是在商学院还是文理学院的精算学生提供了一个分成完善的平台, 30刀的会费，一年当中你精算考试的费用都可以报销（前提是要通过精算考试）。每周一会有精算相关的公司来学校做presentation，并会收集简历。而且还会有精算社团单独的学习活动（study group, 一对一mentor)和娱乐活动（排球，躲避球比赛，卡拉OK）社团成员上百人
社团的导师是目前教act sci303， act sci650 的Kirk Peter (VP - Finance at CUNA Mutual Group), 在madison保险公司干了17年的FSA，之后来到uw-madison教书，现在是他的第八年。现在是一名lecturer，我有很多精算方面的问题都是向他请教的，非常幽默的一位老师！

下面来介绍商学院
90%申请商学院的新生和transfer student入学之后都被分到了Letter & Science，想进商学院还需要以下几点
修完四门pre-business ESL 118或ENGL 100, MATH 221 (or equivalent), PSYCH 202，ECON101
3.6以上GPA (最低应该是2.8，但是一般3.6左右才有戏）
99个学分以下
值得注意是如果不是在美国读的高中，就需要上ESL的课（转学生一般在之前大学学的英语都是不给transfer的），选课之前要考一个placement考试，听力+阅读写作（不在wisconsin考试的好像只有阅读写作题）根据考试成绩会给你分配到相应esl课程，115-118（有个别114），esl是sequence course，只有上完一个才能上接下来的课，例如115,116,117,118，116跳118很常见。据老师说，115跳118的人到现在还没有。
对于转学生而言，esl118 + 99学分+只有每年春季才能申请，绝对是一个害人极深的组合，楼主就深受其害，因为学分过多而且ESL没有分到117或118，楼主目前只能在数学学院就读
因此，对于转学生而言，入学placement test非常重要！如果之前有过英语写作，而且英语考到118的话，就可以吧118waive掉。虽然超过99学分之后仍旧可以申请petition，但是进商学院还是很难得
另外，每个人一共只能申请两次商学院，所以前两年的GPA很重要！文科课尽量就放到之后去吧，商学院每年接受大约60%的申请者。
