Chairman of Netherlands CCPIT Haakma Visited Elephant Alliance on Cooperation Matters

Afternoon, September 2rd, 2013, Mr. Jochum Haakma (Chinese Name: Xia Xuheng), Chairman of Netherlands CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) made a special trip to visit Elephant Alliance. The two sides had in-depth discussion and exchange on how to better strengthen the Cooperation between the Netherlands and Elephant Alliance on International Economic and Trade.  Visitors accompanying Mr. Haakma were Mr. JP Sharp, CEO of TMF China and Derek Ng, Director of TMF China and Mr. L. T. Lucien Tjon; General Manager of Xin Yang International B.V.
    Elephant Alliance Chairman Jin Chenglong received Mr. Haakma and his entourage. Mr. Haakma and Chairman Jin were quite appreciative of each other and had warm exchanges of ideas despite this was the very first time they met.  Mr. Haakma first introduced the background of the Netherlands. Netherlands is a country of long history and a highly developed country. Netherlands has 400 years of trading history and has extensive political and business connections all over the world.  It has bilateral agreements with a lot of countries, and also has agreements to avoid double taxation.  Netherlands is number one in flower trading and has advanced water management technology. Mr. Haakma stressed that Netherlands is the best candidate for Elephant Alliance to cooperate with.
    Chairman Jin Chenglong also considered Netherlands a very promising country and expressed his sincere admiration on Mr. Haakma’s efforts on promoting economic and trade exchanges between Netherlands and China for such a long time.
Mr. Jin then introduced the Elephant Alliance business model and its current progress of investment projects in Africa and European countries.
    Mr. Haakma was appreciative of the innovative business model of Elephant Alliance and he is looking forward to stepping up bilateral cooperation and utilizing complementary advantages with Elephant Alliance to achieve win-win situation.

Chairman Haakma’s Biography:
    Mr. Haakma was a career diplomat and had served as a diplomat in several countries.  He was the Consul General of Netherlands in China in Hong Kong and Shanghai from 1997 to 2006. With this working experience in China, the diplomat Jochum S. Haakma has a Chinese name, "Xia Xuheng."
    In 2006, after finishing being the Dutch Consul General in Shanghai, Mr. Haakma was appointed as the Director General of Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency and Chairman of Netherlands CCPIT, and also served as the President of Global Business Development of the famous Dutch Trust Management Financial Group by the Dutch Economy Ministry.
    No matter how the work changes, Mr. Haakma has always maintained close ties with China at various positions and vigorously promoted Sino-Dutch bilateral economic and trade exchanges.
