Malawi and Elephant Alliance signed Framework Cooperation Agreement


June 7, 2013 evening, after nearly five hours of negotiations, Malawi Presidential delegates and Elephant Alliance delegates signed a formal Framework Cooperation Agreement in Beijing.
    Authorized by President Banda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament, Mr. Ephraim Abel Kayembe signed the agreement because President Banda had to change her itinerary and leave earlier. Special Adviser to the President of Malawi on national policy and Strategy, Mr. Shyley Kondowe and other officers were also presented. Elephant Alliance was represented by Chairman Jin Chenglong and his team to sign this agreement.
    The two sides carefully scrutinized and negotiated on the six areas of cooperation in the draft agreement. After nearly five hours of negotiation, both sides reached consensus and signed the formal Framework Cooperation Agreement. The agreement involves investment plans for Elephant Alliance to construct in six areas, namely, industrial parks, financial institute, multilateral trades, health/educational services and infrastructures in Malawi for over $ 2 billion USD.
    Special Adviser to the President of Malawi praised: This is the greatest achievement in President Banda's trip to China. I am sure that the two sides can cooperate successfully.


Malawi Presidential delegates and Elephant Alliance leaders gave a final touch to the details of the cooperation agreement.
