It is one of my favorite classical MIT textbook. Strang has new versions which have more pictures and exercises. However I love this very early version, which shows clearly how the idea is developed and why the abstract concepts of spaces help, and at the end of the book, the development of simplex method out of linear algebra is truely tidy and beautiful.
