Research has nothing done with "work experience", which means those research programs would consider the applicants' research ability (academic background), instead of their professional background. I give you some "insider's advice". almost all hk universities would not accept part time PhD application, unless you are now working in academic institutions or sponsored by a "big" company.
By the way, you can surf the hk universities' website, and choose the dept and research programs you are interested (note: don't take taught post-graduated program which is not for research student). Then check their academic staff's research focus and find out who may interest in your research interest. Then send him/her email to seek their advice.--It is one of the starting point. Try!
