All countries in the Asian region are moving toward the bottom right corner of the above chart, indicating a worsening CA condition and a higher leverage ratio. To be honest, this is a right direction based on the ongoing global re-balancing process in which Asian countries are making efforts in stimulating domestic demand due to weak external environment. We probably will never see the 2000-2007 scenario happen again in Asia, so we need to adapt to the higher leverage ratio and smaller CA in the region. But we need to monitor which country lacks prudent policy and is going to slide to the alerting level (red dots in the chart above).
