Q:   Why did you write this book?

A:        I have a passion for the subject from years on the Asia beat and many trips to China.  I want to show readers how the dotcom boom I saw in Silicon Valley as an editor at Red Herring is rapidly transferring to China technology zones.

 

Q:   What innovations are you seeing in China?

A:        They range from life sciences to solar technology to a new type of lighting source.  But many also come from wireless communications -- where China is setting the standards.

 

Q:   Why is Silicon Valley migrating to China?

A:        China’s huge population of mobile phone and Internet users; vast numbers of well-trained engineers; and a rush of venture capital into China by Sand Hill Road players.

 

Q:   Will China win the technology race?

A:        Yes, but it will take at least 10 years and increasing development of China’s infrastructure for entrepreneurship.

 

Q:   Who is the next Steve Jobs?

A:    Alibaba’s Jack Ma!
