SAS has proc IML, which allows you to analyze your data with your OWN analyzing methodology. SPSS will not give you such flexibility.
simplest example:
do a simple regression, and tell the 95% CI of intercept and slope (or beta0 and beta1).
simple enough. SAS can do that and SPSS cannot.
Then, you know their difference.
SAS and R are much powerful and flexible, but the price is the learning.
