The Big Data Institute (www.fox.temple.edu/bigdata<[url]http://www.fox.temple.edu/bigdata[/url]>)in the Fox School of Business at Temple University invites applications for oneor two post-doctoral research positions on big data analytics. We are seekingcandidates that have a record of scholarship under the rubric of "bigdata" (e.g., analysis of large datasets, data mining, machine learning,database management, pattern classification, network analysis) who have thepotential to work in an interdisciplinary team to publish in premier journals.Candidates should have excellent communication skills, and they should be ablework with both academics and industry partners to engage in various big dataprojects.


Candidates may come from different backgrounds, such ascomputer science, statistics, econometrics, information systems and informationsciences, or a related field, but preference will be given to candidates withexperience working with social scientists. They should be familiar with commoncomputer science and statistical techniques, such as SQL, R, Python, or SAS,and they should be familiar with theories and techniques on data mining,pattern analysis, machine learning, Bayesian decision theory, parameterestimation, decision trees, game theory, structural analysis, or data sciences.The post-doctoral fellows are expected to collaborate with various faculty atthe Big Data Institute, but they can also pursue their own independent researchagenda.


Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank andqualifications. The position is for 2 years with the possibility to continueafter that point. Review of applications will begin immediately and continueuntil the positions are filled.
