Call for papers for The Special Issue Symposium of CJAR

Rediscovering Accounting Research in China
25-26 April, 2015, Suzhou, China

Introduction

This year, the symposium for the special issue of China Journal of Accounting Research (CJAR) will be held in the beautiful city of Suzhou on April 25 and 26. As researchers in China and abroad have been doing empirical accounting research on China topics for more than fifteen years, it is time that we pause, reflect and rediscover accounting research in China. We also want to use this opportunity to discuss problems and challenges that we have encountered and the best ways to promote authentic China research that is consistent with China’s rapid economic development and global stature. We promise a very exciting symposium and a lively exchange of thoughts.

We call for paper submissions to this symposium. We will entertain all China themed studies in the forms of theoretical models, empirical analyses and thought pieces. Papers accepted to the symposium will be considered as submissions to CJAR with authors’ consent. However, they will still go through the regular CJAR review process.

CJAR

China Journal of Accounting Research (CJAR) was founded by the Sun Yat-sen University, China and the City University of Hong Kong in 2008. It was published by LexisNexis during 2008-2010 and is now published by Elsevier. Starting from 2012, CJAR is a quarterly journal. The editors of CJAR are dedicated to getting CJAR indexed in the journal list of Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) in the following three years. CJAR aims at publishing theoretical and empirical research that uses contemporary research methodologies to investigate issues in accounting, finance, auditing and corporate governance in China and other markets. Researchers from the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China have been making contributions to CJAR by actively participating in symposiums organized by the Journal and by submitting their research papers to the Journal.

Submission and selection process:

Papers submitted to the symposium should be unpublished original research. All submissions are subject to a double-blind review process. Papers accepted for presentation at the symposium will be regarded as submissions to the China Journal of Accounting Research (CJAR). The Symposium will provide accommodation (single occupancy) for three days, a waiver of registration fees and a reimbursement of the cheapest return economy airfare up to a maximum of US$1,500 for one author of each accepted paper that is committed to the Journal. Please state clearly in your email if you are interested in applying for the subsidy. The subsidy is claimed on a reimbursement basis upon production of appropriate receipts and documents. Details will be made available in the invitation letter.

Submissions must be conducted through the CJAR Submission System at https://ees.elsevier.com/cjar/ before 1 March 2015.

Authors will be notified of their acceptance to the symposium by 30 March 2015.

After the symposium, authors of selected papers will be invited to submit their revised versions following comments and suggestions from the discussant and symposium participants. Following to a successful refereeing and selection process, these papers will be published in China Journal of Accounting Research (CJAR).
