On October 26, 2015 the Department of Finance at the University of Melbourne will hold an information session describing the Department’s doctoral program in Finance. This world-class program begins with two years of advanced course work in finance, economics, econometrics, mathematics and statistics. Dissertation supervision is provided by the Department’s faculty who regularly publish in the leading journals in Finance. Generous scholarships, fees waivers, conference attendance reimbursement, and a research allowance are available throughout the degree.

The Department of Finance at the University of Melbourne has recently hired Professor Peter Bossaerts, Professor Federico Nardari, Professor Carole Comerton-Forde and Professor J. Spencer Martin, and a wonderful group of recent doctoral graduates from BI Norwegian Business School, Tel Aviv, Bocconi, Warwick, the University of British Columbia, Georgia State, UC Santa Barbara, the Swiss Finance Institute, the University of Texas at Austin, Kellogg, the Cambridge Judge Business School, the University of Southern California, Tilburg, Columbia, Wharton, and Cornell. The Department now wants to attract the very best Finance doctoral candidates to study with us.

The information session on the afternoon of Monday October 26 will be followed by a dinner for participants that evening. The information session will be presented by five faculty members from Melbourne’s Department of Finance and will describe

•        the Department’s extremely large set of data bases,
•        the application procedure, and
•        the funding, support and placement of our doctoral students.
