取得FRM需要通过FRM考试，以及两年财务风险管理相关的工作经验。包括但不限于交易、资产管理、研究人员、学术界、稽核、风险顾问、风险科技业等等。并且缴交年费参加GARP会员以及签署职业道德公约。FRM考试是对综合能力的考查，包括基本分析技能，和通过在资本市场的实际经验而获得的常识和直觉能力。
