Before I Fall To Sleep

Did you forget to say you love me,

Before I went to bed last night,

Or, were you too busy,

Were you nervous or uptight？

I try so hard to please you,

But, I know I goof a lot,

My pranks and foolish antics,

Are the only weapons that I’ve got.

You forgot to ask me how I feel,

And, did I have a busy day?

I wanted so to talk to you,

I have so much to say.

I am starving for attention,

No toy can sastisfy,

I hunger for approval,

Heaven knows how hard I try.

You seldom ever notice,

If I smile or if I frown.

Perhaps you think I am alright,

That nothing gets me down.

I need to be encouraged,

I need praise to build my pride,

I sometimes struggle with emotions,

That keeps churning deep inside.

Perhaps you feel that I am tough,

I can cope with anything,

But I am still a child,

Growing up can sometimes sting.

Don’t let me fail all by myself,

Hold on and help me grow,

For if you haven’t time for me,

I have nowhere
else to go.

I hurt and often hide my tears,

I search for guidance and direction,

I need to know that I am loved,

I need a show of warm affection.

I hope that you will hear my prayer,

And help to make things right,

Please let me know how much you love me,

Before I fall to sleep tonight.
