HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
• Energy production with detail by fuel source has been updated through
December 2009 (most current month available). LTM coal generation
declined 3.6%, while nuclear, gas-fired and hydro generation is up
modestly by 0.6%, 1.9% and 0.8% y-o-y respectively. Total generation
in December increased 1.9% y-o-y, while YTD generation is down
4.5%. (Pg. 4-5)
• Through 3/4, regulated and unregulated nukes were running at 86.3%
and 89.0%, respectively, vs. 87.5% and 95.9% a year ago. There are
eight regulated units currently down or operating at less than 50%
capacity, compared to six a year ago, and there are five unregulated unit
down, compared to two a year ago. (Pg. 6)
• We have rolled forward the table of current company guidance to
reflect 2010 and 2011 earnings and EBITDA guidance. (Pg. 21)
• The table of LTM dividend changes has also been updated with
information through 2/28/10. Several companies announced dividend
increases in February, including UNS, AVA, CNL, FPL, PCG, NU, WR,
PEG, SCG, and PPL. (Pg. 22)
