Preface for the Second Edition
When we produced the fist edition of this book in 2006, it was for the purpose of providing readers with the tools needed for making evidence-based asset management decisions. We certainly succeeded! Colleagues, students, and practicing maintenance and reliability engineers have used our ideas in real-life situations and cited us in their studies. They have told us how important our book has been to them. However, research is ongoing and relentless. In only a few short years, things have changed, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to prepare a second edition. We want our work to have ongoing relevance to the asset management community.
