As an FRM Holder, FRM question writing is your best opportunity to insure that this year's FRM candidates are tested on the most relevant risk management topics with fair and challenging questions. To contribute questions for the 2010 FRM exam, please follow these simple steps outlined below: WE have also provided you with temporary access to the 2010 FRM Practice Exams, please follow the link below.
NEW: Review the 2010 FRM Practice Exam (
http://www.garpdigitallibrary.org/display/product.asp?pid=2357) and your access code is 5OREHJ . This will be available for free to FRM Holders through February 15 th , to see questions that have been used in the past.
Review the 2010 FRM Study Guide (
http://www.garp.com/frmexam/studyguide.aspx ). Questions must directly reflect the materials in the 2010 FRM Study Guide and incorporate the FRM's underlying practice approach and philosophy. We need questions from all sections .
Review the 2010 FRM Question Writing Guidelines (
http://www.garp.com/frmexam/download/2010WritingGuidelines.pdf ) which outlines the necessary components of a good FRM question.
Submit your FRM questions in a Microsoft Word document via email to
frm_questions@garp.com .
*** The deadline for submitting questions is Feb 15, 2010 . ***
Due to the size of the FRM community and the strong response we have gotten in the past, the number of questions each FRM Holder can submit is limited to twenty (20) . We will only consider the first 20 questions we receive from each FRM Holder; any additional questions will be discarded so please only provide us with your very best questions.
Here are a few helpful hints on writing questions that have a higher probability of being used:
Follow the proper format – a question should have a good question statement, 4 reasonable possible answers, identification of the right answer, explanation of the correctness/incorrectness of each possible answer, and a reference.
Stay away from definition questions. Questions such as “What is a swaption?” or “What is gamma risk?” will not be selected.
Create a setting – instead of simply asking for a calculation, put it into a context that it may be faced in practice. For example, “As a risk manager for Bank XYZ, Joe oversees the risk profile of a portfolio of … . The market is moving … and so to hedge his position, he should … ”
Include a valid reference from the 2010 FRM Study Guide.
