TitleT.A.P. Associate - Asia based applicants
AutoReqId12661BR
Work LocationLos Angeles, CA (Downtown)
Full Time / Part TimeFull Time
Position DescriptionPLEASE NOTE: THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS October 24, 2010.
The Associates Program (TAP) is a unique opportunity for exceptional, well-rounded individuals to participate in a global rotational program with The Capital Group Companies (CGC). TAP associates possess distinct backgrounds and have studied a variety of academic disciplines at leading universities all over the world. It consists of approximately six four-month on-the-job assignments that emphasize and expose associates to all aspects of our business. Additionally, there is an optional 7th rotation where participants can work at a non-profit organization.

You can find more information about TAP on our website (www.capgroup.com/TAP) in addition to reading about some of the associates that are currently in or have completed the program.

As there is no prescribed route for TAP associates to take through the company, and since rotations are not pre-determined, business groups with pressing business needs as well as areas that are of interest to particular TAP associates are often included for rotations.

Each TAP assignment shares several common features. In some assignments TAP associates will work as members of teams, while in other assignments they may work independently with little substantial or structured supervision. In all cases, TAP associates are able to call on company resources, managers and mentors, and the TAP manager. There are numerous opportunities to make valued contributions in specific areas; to obtain exposure to CGC's multi-faceted operations and the relationships among different parts of the organization; and to work with and learn from experienced associates.

TAP provides classroom-style learning sessions in addition to on-the-job learning. Graduate-level courses are offered during the first year of TAP to help provide a foundation in our core business.

LOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT - TAP associates are based in Southern California (Los Angeles and Orange Counties). The global nature of our business, however, allows for TAP assignments at other CGC offices around the world, and potentially global job placements after participants graduate. We are often able to obtain work visas for applicants to address our business needs during, and on completion, of the program.

FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES - The variety of positions associates hold after TAP reflects not only the breadth of opportunities at CGC, but also the diversity of interests of the program's participants. While there is no commitment to remain at the end of the program, based on an associate's performance during TAP, we work with them to identify potential positions at CGC that may suit their interests and skills. The TAP profiles on our website show examples of what some TAP associates are doing after completing the program (www.capgroup.com/TAP).

WHERE TO FROM HERE? We welcome your application for The Associates Program (TAP). Please note that applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and that all applications and resumes must be submitted in English.

Please include a cover letter with your resume along with your college transcript (a scanned, "unofficial" document is fine). Please respond to the following two questions in your cover letter: Why are you interested in pursuing TAP? What would you change about your university or college if you could? PLEASE NOTE: THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS October 24, 2010. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION MATERIALS through our on online application process.

Candidates selected to continue in the interview process may have three rounds of interviews. Initial interviews will be on campus or via telephone between Sept. and Nov. Second round interviews will be held during the first two weeks of Nov. Final round interviews, held in our Los Angeles office, will be held between Nov. 15 and Dec. 17.

Additional information about TAP and CGC is available on our website (www.capgroup.com/TAP). If you have any questions, please contact TAP@capgroup.com.
Hiring CriteriaTAP is a small and selective program typically accepting six candidates each year. There is no single "ideal" background for candidates. We are open to all academic disciplines. Beyond the common denominators of academic excellence, creativity, and motivation, we look for mature, well-rounded individuals whose diverse educational, work or cultural experiences have demonstrated initiative and success. We look to all these factors as indicators of participants who will make a contribution in a friendly, cooperative, and largely self-guided environment.
