Many of overseas Chinese economists were students with science or engineering background in China before they went abroad. I think your training in your undergraduate study will help you quite a lot in understanding mathematical formulas in Economics.

Basically, if you could stick to reading some newspapers on business from time to time, you will find yourself more and more sensible to the teminology in economics.
