It's indeed a weird logic to select a candidate of euro region to lead the IMF.

go on~

This article gives a very thorough analysis on the IMF's new candidate Christine Lagarde. The author is mostly opposite to this nomination but that isn't about the candidate herself, however we can even nose out somewhat praise on her. "A superb communicator", "a good negotiator", "an excellent manager" are a series of compliments to Lagarde. But is that all? And what is the connection between these virtues and a chairman position of one of the world's most important financial organizations? The biggest  defect is her academy background, which has just been mentioned lightly by the author who even thought the female identity would be a bonus for her. Will the next leader be an sexual assaulter again?
I am not just criticizing Christine Lagarde, what I want to say is that it is really selfish and thoughtless for the Europe committees to exclude the candidates from other continents. We all know that there are a lot of talent economists from Aisa and America could handle this position, but they have no chance even their election would be more fair for the world's other places. Why should a global institution clear up the mess made by Europeans? Why didn't France and Germany consider carefully about admitting Greece and Ireland into the EU? Because they already knew who will pay for their bankruptcies.

It is still not too late for emerging economies to unite around a different candidate, and for America to support their choice. Europe’s monopoly of the IMF’s leadership has long been an anomaly. It is time that it ended.

When every country or economists are seeking for their own profit in such world-wide organizations, maybe we need someone who has a good communication skills except for the experience in the highest position. Thus he/she can find a balance.

Besides, there are people who could do the job well who do not happen to be euro-zone finance ministers. Stanley Fischer, the governor of Israel’s central bank and former number two at the IMF, has vast experience of international economics and financial crises

I think that no matter who will become the final candidate, through this debate ,the new  head of the IFM will consider more benefit of the  emerging economies .we won't be silent in the IFM ,we have the right to do something to change the role of us , this is just the first time ,Maybe it won't success this time , but it means we will prepare it better next time .I believe one day ,the head of the IFM will be a chinese .

It's really interesting the male leaders in western country always have some sexual scandals. But this do not benefit female leaders a lot. I know Christine Lagarde because of the movie "inside job". I didn't know she once was lawyer. That's make sense, if a women got the high social status like her, there is only 2 ways, being success in law filed or the wife of the president. (I believe this with no doubt). It's necessary for IMF to change cause the world pattern is changing too. It seems that the US&EU dominated IMF has bias on the western countries, so that for the sake of developing country, the IMF needs to elect a Asian or African leader. But I would rather attribute this to the rising of emerging market. Only when the Asian countries are strong enough will they make their voice heard. So it's just a sign of the world economy pattern's change.
But, unfortunately, as EmmaUk referred, those countries are desperately need a excellent international candidate. That's a pity.

The IMF chief is comparatively powerful position to the global economy, though the protest is very high from the emerging economy,I believe the candidate who is supported by western countries having the actual power to make decisions won't change. It 's the Internation competition's rules made by the western countries. If the emerging economics want to do some change.they have to change and control the rule which is most crucial sector in the competition of the world.

来一小段:
OFFICIALLY the search for a new head of the IMF, to replace Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who awaits trial on charges of sexual assault, has barely begun. The fund’s member governments have until June 10th to propose candidates, after which a shortlist will be drawn up. But in practice the race seems all but over. That is because European countries, which hold over a third of the votes on the IMF’s board, have rallied around a single contender: France’s finance minister, Christine Lagarde.

the main view of this article is calling that  developed countried should end the monopoly.
maybe, this is a good will, but the fact is not, even never!

Christine Lagarde's being elected the next MD of IMF looks like a forgone conclusion. what's really interesting off stage is that there are more and more voices/noises for the nomination of a leader from emerging market.  Stanley Fischer, mentor to Ben Bernanke, cannot be categorized as from emerging markets. but except for Fischer i really don't see any promising leadership in the other candidates mentioned in this article. This article, on the other hand, reminded me of Illiad, where one and only gold apple started all the quarrels and conflicts.
