Functions of the people' s Bank of China
In accordance with the law of the people' s Bank of China of the
People' s Republic of China, which was amended at the sixth
meeting of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National
People' s Congress on December 27, 2003, the main functions of
the people' s Bank of China are as follows:
(1) drafting relevant laws and administrative regulations,
improving the rules for the operation of financial institutions,
and issuing orders and regulations relating to the performance
of their functions and duties.
(two) formulate and implement monetary policies in accordance
with the law.
(three) supervision and administration of interbank lending
market and inter-bank bond market, foreign exchange market and
gold market.
(four) to guard against and defuse systemic financial risks and
safeguard national financial stability.
(five) to determine the RMB exchange rate policy, to maintain
a reasonable level of the RMB exchange rate; to implement
foreign exchange control; to hold, manage and operate the
state' s foreign exchange reserves and gold reserves.
(six) issuing Renminbi and managing the circulation of RMB.
