There are so many factors that can cause the statistics differ from one's observations.
There are regional differences.
There are differences in the basket of goods that are included in the statistics and one's observed basket.
There are different weights for each of the goods in that basket.
Of course, there can be some problems with statistics itself, like changes in data collection and sample selection, human errors, etc.
