I think "Follow Me" is a pretty good activity which can help us use English to discuss academic papers and economics with others.
I would recommend that we post a new reading topic every three days because of three reasons. One reason is that not everyone has time to visit the forum every single day. (Note: We use past tenses if we suppose someone to do something.) Sometimes a person might miss one day's topic. When he came back to the forum next day, he was more likely to read and comment a new topic rather than old topics. Another reason is that the majority of us would not have time to read others' comments and reread the article to think about these comments if we had new topics every single day. The third reason is that we need to have enough time to search online articles or academic papers and carefully select a current economics reading topic from these papers. I think focus on deeply analyzing one topic and thinking about others' comments every three days, which should be better than rush through analyzing one topic per day. Therefore, I think three-day would be a good time interval to post a new economics reading topic.
What do you guys think about this idea? You are welcome to post your constructive comments below.
That's a good idea. Much attention should also be paid to choosing the topic. We should post the most interesting and readable topic which can attract more people to read and comment easily. Two critical steps can achieve that.
1.it would be good to ask more memebers to collect more topics from various sources during the interval .
2.A reviewing committee should be set up to review those topics posted by memebers and decide the best one to be posted as the final topic highlighted on the home page.
In addition, I don't think every topic worth "great and hot (精华帖)" only if there are more than 10 people have given constructive comments based on the analysis of the original article in each "Follow Me" thread. For example, I saw some threads were not carefully chosen, so only few people responded the authors of the main threads in this forum. Therefore, we should take three days to choose a great and new topic and wait for more people to respond previous topics.
I totally agree with the above ideas. I'd like to propose a mechanism. Usually, we study and work on our own path these days. After thinking about the materials that we could absorb within a week, I recommend that we only post or control 1 article on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Then, we use the weekends to discuss the 3 articles that have been posted. So, let's say I might be busy from Monday to Thursday, but I could still pick things up over the weekend. For some people, they could just pick their favorite article to read and respond over the weekend. That's just my little opinion and more comments will be greatly welcomed and appreciated. (^_^)
