Citigroup Inc. (C US): The biggest U.S. bank may bid for
ABN Amro Holding NV, which is talking with Barclays Plc about a
takeover, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified
people. The Barclays-ABN Amro talks value the largest Dutch bank
at about $80 billion and a deal would be the biggest banking
takeover, the Journal reported. Any move by Citigroup would be
considered hostile, the newspaper said.
