People get used to believe drawing picture is not the advantage of SAS,Because the SAS/Graph and GTL both need to spend a large cost to learn.Most people will prefer Matlab or R to accomplish their drawing job.In this blog, I will love to change your impressing of SAS in the field of paint.
"GTL",the graph template language is very useful while drawing pictures in SAS.Even though GTL is a bit complicated when you start to learn it,it is easy to master.This blog I will introduce a graphical software using the GTL language,which can helpe you getting start whith GTL much more easily.
First of all,You should install the SAS9.3.If you have already intalled it,congratulations,we can start directly after you submit the following code.

You should show some patience when it is the first time you submit the code,because the SAS need to initial the environment.
After sevaral miniites,the software interface appeared.
You can view the GTL code,copy it,paste it to the Base SAS software and submit,it will show up the exacttly same picture as you see in the sgdesign software.
Also you can asign the data,change the style of background ,dot or line,change the size of the picture,add another layer from the left sidebar panel in the visual interface.What is more,the code will change accordingly in the same time,you can view the code and find out what happen.

I decide to write this blog,because I have heard too much people complaining the inconvient of drawing picture with SAS.
I guess it is because they don't use it in a proper way,so I hope much people can benifit from this blog and stop complaining how bad the experience of drawing picture using SAS.
It was vary funny,what you say is completely not logic at all.
According to your opinion,any new products is bad or useless at the begining,because there is few people in use,such as the Computer,the internet or the sgdesigner.
You are not a fool,why you think such a big company like SAS will do a foolish thing that creating a bad software like sgdesigner or defining a useless language like GTL.
Of course,you can use matlab ,R or other software to do your drawing job,because you get used to it.
