BayesX is available in three different versions.
A precompiled binary including installer (developed with the free open source license of install4j) is available for the various version of the Windows operating system. This version consists of a C++ computing kernel with a Java graphical user interface and contains built-in graphics facilities. Most of the documentation and the tutorials available on this webpage are written for the Windows version of BayesX.
A command line version of BayesX is distributed as a source code bundle. It contains a makefile and should work (possibly after minor modifications) on most operating systems.
The R package R2BayesX (available from CRAN) provides a third variant of BayesX that allows to call BayesX from within R via the usual model specification language.
Up to version 1.30, a fourth variant with Borland C++ graphical user interface has been distributed. This version of BayesX is no longer supported.

Manuals
BayesX is distributed with three manuals: A reference manual containing a detailed description of the BayesX commands, a methodology manual containing a short review of the methodological background, and a tutorial manual containing tutorial like sections for new users. All three manuals are part of the standard installation of BayesX and can be found in the 'doc' directory (a subdirectory of the installation directory). They are also available from the BayesX help menu (in the windows version).
