In SPSS, how do I invoke the Python and R plug-ins?SPSS does not include the free plug-ins for Python and R; you must download the plug-ins separately. Both Python and R are open-source software, and the plug-ins for SPSS are free. However, you must register with the SPSS website in order to download the software; registration is also free.
You can register and download the free plug-ins from the IBM SPSS Statistics Downloads Wiki.
Once you have downloaded and installed the Python and R plug-ins, run the programs from SPSS with the following syntax:
BEGIN PROGRAM Python.
(Python commands)
END PROGRAM.
BEGIN PROGRAM R.
(R commands)
END PROGRAM.
For information on how to use the Python and R plug-ins from SPSS, consult the SPSS Statistics-Python Integration package and the SPSS Statistics-R Integration package. To access these PDF files, from the SPSS drop-down menu, select Help, and then Programmability
