BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Li Changchun on Friday called forfurther efforts to promote the socialist core value system and accelerate reform of thecountry's cultural sector.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Partyof China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting on developing thesocialist culture and ethics.

The 18th CPC National Congress is scheduled for this year, and to promote thecongress as well as the achievements of the CPC, the country and the reform andopening-up policy should be a focus of this year's cultural and ethic promotion work, Lisaid.

Li also called for more efforts in this regard to encourage officials and the public towork for the accomplishment of the economic and social development targets set in thecountry's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015).
