This is a comprehensive book filled with technical analysis tools and strategies for the advanced ETF trader. "Advanced Technical Analysis of ETFs" is an important resource for sophisticated ETF traders that contains a wealth of expanded strategies for technical trade setups and includes the author's best real trade examples (both winning and losing), as well as additional user-friendly technical indicators. Step by step this book offers you a how-to guide for profiting from ETFs through a unique strategy of technical analysis that was outlined in Wagner's previous book and summarized in the introduction. The strategy is designed to compare relative strength using a top-down approach. In this book, Wagner focuses on new indicators not previously covered including candlesticks (Doji, Hammers, Hanging Man), Fibonacci, and others. He also explores essential new developments on moving average divergence/convergence (MACD), and institutional trading impact and how these elements now exert influence on the market. This is a vital resource written for ETF traders who are ready for the next level of sophistication. It contains the author's signature "my best and worst trades" with real examples from his daily trading at a hedge fund. It includes case studies that focus on the technical indicators outlined in the book. It explores the role of market psychology for technical analysis traders and his trademark slogan, "Trade what you see, not what you think". Written in a straightforward and accessible style, this book will help sophisticated traders make the most of today's ETFs.

Editorial ReviewsFrom the Back CoverFilled with proven technical analysis tools and strategies, Advanced Technical Analysis of ETFs was created with the sophisticated ETF trader in mind. Written by Deron Wagner—an experienced ETF trader and founder of Morpheus Capital LP—and Edward Balog, this comprehensive resource offers detailed information on exchange traded funds and gives the lowdown on new products such as exchange traded notes (ETNs) and exchange traded commodities (ETCs). However, as the authors explain, no matter how the marketplace has changed in recent years, one thing remains constant—the effectiveness of tried-and-true technical analysis strategies when using ETFs.
Advanced Technical Analysis of ETFs offers a next-step resource for savvy traders. This important book introduces several new technical indicators and strategies that enhance the effectiveness of the proven "top-down" trading strategy outlined in Wagner's previous book, Trading ETFs. While the top-down strategy can hold its own, adding additional technical indicators, strategies, and concepts will only serve to improve the overall success of serious ETF traders. In this book, the authors put the spotlight on Candlestick Patterns, Fibonacci Levels, Fibonacci Times Series, and Accumulation-Distribution combined with the Relative Strength Index. These technical indicators have proven to be useful without being cumbersome.
One popular feature of prior books by the authors is the analysis of the outcomes of thirty different actual ETF trades that were initially published in the Wagner Daily newsletter. Many of these instructive trades were winners but some were losers. The authors stress that knowing how, when, and why to exit a losing trade is a critical skill that all serious traders need to develop. The book also dedicates space to mastering the psychology of trading and provides just the right amount of crucial details explained in a user-friendly and accessible manner.Advanced Technical Analysis of ETFs includes the latest developments in ETF trading and addresses special account considerations for instruments that investors and traders may not be aware of. Understanding the key financial implications of trading certain ETFs adds yet another tool to your trading toolbox and can positively affect your profitability and overall success as an ETF trader.
Sophisticated ETF traders need the most current information and advice on advanced technical analysis and strategies to succeed. In Advanced Technical Analysis of ETFs, authors Deron Wagner and Ed Balog draw from their extensive experience in this field to explore a proven "top-down" trading strategy and introduce several new technical indicators and strategies that enhance the effectiveness of this winning approach.
This comprehensive resource includes the must-have information on new products such as exchange traded notes (ETNs) and exchange traded commodities (ETCs). While the approach outlined in this book is built on a foundation of the top-down strategy, adding the additional technical indicators, strategies, and concepts found here will only serve to improve the bottom line of committed ETF traders. Page by page, Wagner and Balog explore how and when to apply indicators such as Candlestick Patterns, Fibonacci Levels, Fibonacci Times Series, and Accumulation-Distribution combined with the Relative Strength Index. These technical indicators have proven to be extremely helpful without being unwieldy.
Advanced Technical Analysis of ETFs also includes detailed analysis of the outcomes of thirty actual ETF trades. These trades were first published in the Wagner Daily newsletter and represent both winners and losers—because all trades, winners and losers, contain a particular lesson that ETF traders can learn from.
