It is a funny topic, and to a degree an abuse of economics. Unless in some rare and extreme cases, your utility is unlikely to be maximised, even if one adopts a funny economic approach.
As LZ mentioned in his argument, there is so much information in the market. I would say there is no such an effective market for love. Assuming there was one, information costs would be very high, or information asymmetry is very serious.
I doubt the utility of economics in LZ’s approach. But LZ’s devotion to that girl may reflect his unique preference and valuation of the “worth” of that person to him, there is nothing wrong with that, if I have to apply some economics to explain that.
