I don't think this person's argument is logically sound.
Firstly, why can't or shouldn't China be different from other main economies' experiences? If one always follows others and repeats the past, how can one progress and innovate and create new things?
Secondly, the second reason on why China succeeded in economic growth is marginally correct at the best and wrong in general. Why only China and a handful but not all countries succeeded in the same external economic conditions? Further, why did China grow so rapidly in the economy and in exports/trade? How many other countries could match that success?
Thirdly, why couldn't China be the engine of world growth? It has been proven that China can be. The main reasons are three folds: 1. China's size. 2. China's trade position. 3. China's rapid growth. It is the marginal effect that China is the largest in the world. So there is no question that China is already a main source of world growth.
