Preface
The purpose of this book is to explore the scientiØc achievements of Ønance over
the last forty years. That is, we will investigate whether Ønance has improved
our understanding of Ønancial markets. The book is based on a series of lectures,
Ørst given in Oslo, Norway, in June of 1999.
