刚开始学中宏,碰到一道题:
“Based on the Quantity Theory of Money, any increase in money supply will result in a rise in
price level and cause inflation. On the other hand, an increase in money supply will put the
downward pressure on interest rates if banks increase loans. Therefore, the British Statistics
scholar, Gibson, predicted that high price level and low interest rates (or low price level and
high interest rates) should occur at the same time. However, the data did not support his
prediction. He found that high price level and high interest rates occurred simultaneously. Can
you explain Gibson’s paradox?”
具体应怎么解答? 题目里的interest rate 没指明是实际的还是名义的 ,搅得我一头雾水。。。
