quention: you are given the following information about the economy of freezone: the people and businesses in

Freezone have bank deposits of $500 billion and sold $100 billion in notes and coins. the banks hold

deposits at the Freezone central bank of $5 billion and they keep $5 billion in coins and notes in their

vaults and ATMs. the Freezone central bank undertakes an open market sale of securities of $1billion.

calculate the money multiplier .

answer: 5.46

现金漏损率=100/500=0.2,

超额准备金率=5/500=0.01

法定准备金率=5/500=0.01

货币乘数=1/(0.01+0.01+0.2)=4.545

Money Multiplier = (Public Ratio of cash to deposit + 1)/(Public Ratio of cash to deposit +Bank reserve ratio )

now Public Ratio of cash to deposit = 100/500 = 0.2

Bank reserve ratio =bank reserve / total bank deposit = (5+5)/500 = 0.02

then you can get the multiplier is 5.46
