“Faccio教授在发表这两篇论文后被美国七家大学由意大利礼聘至美国任教。Faccio虽然来自于意大利山区的一所名不见经传的小学校（Catholic University of Milan），但在我的大力推荐下几乎拿到了哈佛的聘书。虽然哈佛一再告诉我说Faccio只要再等一个礼拜就可以定案了。但很可惜她顶不住其他学校的压力而匆匆忙忙选择去了另一家名校University of Notre Dame，后来又转往University of Vanderbilt，2007年她以38岁的年龄成为了Purdue University的讲座教授。这种事在美国是经常发生的。当某校知道另一家更好的学校再过一个礼拜要发聘书时，它就会要求你今天作决定，否则收回聘书。一般人是顶不住这个压力的，因为万一要是那家更好的学校临时变卦，那就什么都没了。”
我的一直的看法是，与数学或艺术不同，金融学研究中天分不是太重要的，用功和投入是关键。早晚会有收获的。有趣的是，几个月前，一个JFE的编委Toni Whited在上财座谈的时候也是这样说的。她的原话是，除了Duffie, Hansen等几个诺奖级别的人物外，其他人的天分都差不多，只是谁更加fearless (无所畏惧)。If you are fearless, you are likely to overcome obstacles.
