The Undergraduate Conference in InformationSystems (UCIS) is designed as a forum for undergraduate students with aninterest in Information Systems to present their work and engage in relevantdiscussions with peers, faculty and experts in the field from around the world. This conference is a chapter conference of the Association for InformationSystems (AIS) and is hosted by Carnegie Mellon University, which is well knownfor its vibrant research environment.
Submissions in line with the conferencetheme, "Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in the Enterprise andBeyond,” are encouraged. Over the past several years, innovations ininformation and communication technology (ICT) have changed the way we dobusiness, interact and communicate (both professionally and socially), engagein commerce, and receive government services. The field of ICT has beenpromising to revolutionize our lives in both small and large ways. Althoughsome big promises have been fulfilled, the impact of these ICT solutions needsto be examined and evaluated. Why were some solutions successful and otherswere not? How can solutions be improved? Why have some of the other promisedchanges not materialized? What are current issues and concerns with ICTlocally, regionally, and globally? The hope is that this forum can be used todiscuss the promises and capabilities of ICT and how it can be used to improveorganizations, while also considering its possible negative impacts andfailures. Ultimately, as future leaders, we all seek to understand what can bedone to both create awareness of and to improve the use and implementation ofICT around the world.
